Coach Roxy Wonders Why Bad Sites Exist?

Saturday May 10, 2008 - I was thinking the other day, why aren't more websites awesome? I mean seriously, it's not that hard! There are plenty of nerds out there who could take time away from Grand Theft Auto and build you a site. Then, you could bring that site to me, and I could force it to run stadium stairs until it becomes an animal in search engine rankings. You would make so much money you could spend your time putting little ships into tiny bottles, or whatever it is you do for fun.

But most people, it seems, prefer to have crappy sites. They would rather have ridiculously huge logos, poor navigation, and really bad calls to action. Then, they decide to add too much flash, where every time you click a page, you are assaulted with rapid images. Or maybe some bad stock photos with people shaking hands as they stand around a trash can. Or they drop in dope beats straight from the Donkey Kong soundtrack.

Every time a site like this is launched, creativity weeps.

Instead of site that brings tears, they could just hire website professionals. People who know what they are doing. People who won't lay pink-colored text over purple background colors. People who understand that 45 pop up ads tend to take away from a site's aesthetics.
